Meet Shannon
Founder & Co-owner
From early childhood, the care and well-being of animals has been my guiding passion. On my ninth birthday, I received the world’s greatest gift: unconditional love from a dog named Tish. Later in adulthood, I became fully immersed in behavioural training education when I adopted a year-old Pomeranian puppy from a friend who found the dog’s behaviour exhaustingly troublesome.
Never one to shy away from a difficult task when it comes to animals and their behaviour, I took him in as my own and started training him diligently. The progress I made with both animals and the reciprocal nature of the relationship we enjoyed as a result set me on a career path that springs from my passion and has now spanned eighteen years.

Shortly into our journey together, my Pomeranian, Zazu, suffered an unfortunate attack from another dog, the results of which sent us on a lengthy physical recovery journey. The costs of leaving Zazu in the care of veterinary staff for an extended period were financially infeasible, which started my search for a company that offered post-surgery care that would be sustainable moving forward.
From this experience, I determined there was a glaring need for extended medical support for pets whose recovery was ongoing. It became apparent that my eighteen years of passion, education, and experience had led to that moment and, as a result, Prairie Seashell Pet Care was born.
I am proud to offer a wide range of care, including services such as sub-Q fluids, insulin injections, wound care and dressing, surgical site monitoring, physio exercises after injury or surgery (such as knee or back repairs), and much more! These services are the culmination of my eighteen years of pet care experience, which began in 2005 and includes over six years of mentorship in small animal veterinary clinics, three years of hands-on holistic hydrotherapy and physiotherapy practice, a diploma in animal sciences, and pet first aid.
Beyond health care and recovery, I also specialize in behavioural training. There’s a meaningful connection between an animal’s behavior and their guardian’s energy, most notably in the time and care we give to grooming our pets.
It’s my privilege to bring compassionate awareness to the connection between people and their animals, educating and equipping them in a way that brings harmony and health to their lives together.
As we groom your animal, we also work with them to improve the grooming experience. Pets that once feared a spa day now enthusiastically greet us when we pull up. Now and in the future, our focus will always be on how we can offer education and support to you, the owner, with total process transparency and support accessibility.

Procedures upon the groomers arrival
- Please allow the groomer a few minutes to get set up before approaching the vehicle. We will call when we are ready for you or wave if we see you waiting.
- Please bring your dog to the open passenger sliding door on a secure leash, collar, or harness.
- There will be a tether attached to the front wall of the salon. Please slide the loop over your dog’s head, then slide the plastic clamp toward your dog’s neck to tighten. Once the tether is secure, please remove your dog’s collar and leash and return to your home. If your dog is a flight risk, please carefully close the sliding door.
- If you need to talk with the groomer, please maintain a minimum 6ft distance. We Recommend clients also wear a mask for drop off and pick up to help protect our groomers.
