About Us
It is my privilege to bring compassionate awareness to the connection between
people and their animals, educating and equipping them in a way that brings
harmony and health to their life together. This energetic connection is a guiding
focus of the work I do at Prairie Seashell Pet Care and the benefits are
universal.
Vision
“Healthy pets. Helping People. Healing the Planet”.
At Prairie Seashell Pet Care we believe in a multifaceted and cooperative approach to
holistic care, which treats both animal behaviour, their natural instincts, their owner and the world around us a whole. We are proud to extend this holistic focus and expectation to ourselves as well, as our experience has shown that the energy with
which we do our work has the ability to enhance our services and improve client results.
Furthermore we have witnessed that this synergistic energy between humans and their animals, can have a profound effect on the environment as well. For this reason we remain passionately convinced that the work we do on a personal level with the
animals we share our lives with has a BIG impact on the world around us.
We are an eco-friendly company and seek to minimize our environmental impact
wherever possible including fuel alternatives, eco-friendly grooming products and an environmentally sensitive approach layered throughout all of our services.
At Prairie Seashell Pet Care, my husband and co-owner Daniel, our staff and myself are proud to support you and your animals on your journey toward an optimal relationship and overall well being. Presently we offer mobile pet grooming, mobile care services, behavioural training and nutrition coaching. In the near future, we look forward to offering certified hydrotherapy treatments, acupuncture, animal communication services and eventually upscale boarding services and medical monitoring as well as canine sports.
Now and in the future, our focus will always be on how we can offer education and support to you, the owner, with total process transparency and support accessibility.
We believe the promise of a great relationship with your pet begins with you, and it is our job to empower you with the services and support that will help you on that journey . We are excited about this knowledge and believe our basic services are enriched by this core value that guides our work. We want each client to leave feeling hopeful and excited, that great improvements in their pet’s behaviour, condition or wellbeing are possible because they can make it so.
We dream of a world where the impact we make with guardian’s and their pets ripples
outward; where the joy they experience from holistic training and wellbeing positively affects the people around them. Imagine a world where this conscientious approach to human-animal interactions becomes the norm, and all of it is done with great care and respect for the environment in tandem!
We delight in that future and as such, show up to work each day, excited to help you
with your pet’s needs. We are here to support you and your pet and we thank you for choosing Prairie Seashell Pet Care!
Meet Shannon – PSPC Founder
From early childhood, the care and wellbeing of animals has been my guiding passion. On my ninth birthday, I received the world’s greatest gift, unconditional love from a dog named Tish. Later in adulthood, my behavioural training education became fully immersive, when I adopted a year old Pomeranian puppy from a friend who found the dog’s behaviour exhaustingly troublesome. Never one to shy away from a difficult task when it comes to animals and their behaviour, I took him in as my own and started training him diligently. The progress I made with both of these animals, and the reciprocal nature of the relationship we enjoyed as a result, set me on a career path that springs from my passion and has now spanned eighteen years.
Shortly into our journey together, my pomeranian Zazu suffered an unfortunate attack by another dog, the results of which sent us on a lengthy physical recovery journey. The costs of leaving Zazu in the care of veterinary staff for an extended period of time was financially infeasible which started my search for a company that offered post-surgery care that would be sustainable moving forward.
When I couldn’t locate a business who offered these services, it became apparent that my life experiences, passions and
education had led to this moment. Though difficult at the time, this immersive recovery experience with Zazu introduced me to the powerful effects of holistic medicine and the glaring need for this kind of extended medical support for pets who’s recovery was ongoing.
Prairie Seashell Pet Care was founded on this premise and presently I am proud to offer any scope of care including services such as sub-Q fluids, insulin injections, wound care and dressing, surgical site monitoring, physio exercises after injury or surgery such as knee or back repairs and much more! These services are the culmination of my eighteen years of pet care experience which began in 2005 and includes over six years of mentorship in small animal veterinary clinics, three years of hands on holistic, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy practice, a diploma in animal sciences and pet first aid.
Beyond health care and recovery, I also specialize in behavioural training. I’ve noticed in my countless interactions with animals, that there is a meaningful connection between an animal’s behaviour and their guardian’s energy. It is my privilege to bring compassionate awareness to that connection, and educate people and animals alike, in a way that brings harmony and health to their life together. This energetic connection is a guiding focus of the work I do at Prairie Seashell Pet Care and the benefits are universal.
Meet Daniel
I have grown up with the excitement of having a dog in my life and I can never see myself without one of life’s greatest companions. I have taken my love of pets and my strength in house maintenance and joined them together to offer my expertise in the care of both your pets and your home.
Whats in the name
For over 12 years of my childhood, my parents worked diligently, crafting a 38’ sailboat in the back yard of our prairie home from the ground up. Affectionately named the Prairie Seashell, my parents subsequently went on to sail it around the coast of Mexico for 8 winters. My father lived his life with care and commitment, and today I carry his legacy proudly, in my dedication to the wellbeing of animals.
